The pavilion logo – symbolising the spirit of balancity

The logo of the German Pavilion borrows from the polygonal shape of the architecture.

The individual structures are interlinked, hold each other in place and, together, create the impression of a multi-faceted, futuristic city. With its three stable yet floating cubes in the colours of Germany’s flag (black, red and gold), the pavilion logo is a direct reference to the core idea behind balancity: the need to preserve and balance urban diversity.

Transparent surfaces will make for a three-dimensionality that exudes openness and lightness and reveal that the inside of the German Pavilion offers visitors a variety of unusual spaces where they can experience, see and comprehend lots of new things.

Next to the Latin script name, "balancity" (a made-up word combining "balance" and "city"), the logo displays the Chinese word 和谐都市 (hexie dushi), which literally translates as "the harmonious metropolis".
