Seen from an aircraft, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is already inviting, with 2,000 lakes, numerous waterways and the deep green in-between. Boasting the 350 km long Baltic Sea coastline, this federal state is Central Europe’s biggest water sports district. No wonder tourism is the state’s main source of revenue.

Besides the holiday centres, shipbuilding along the coast and agriculture provide the main source of income in this least densely populated of Germany’s States.

The two oldest universities in northern Europe and numerous innovative research and development companies have made the state one of the most dynamic regions for high-tech, biotech and meditech.
