Selected projects by NUSSLI:
The 2008 World Fair in Zaragoza explored the future of our resources
NUSSLI helped give shape to the visions presented by a variety of the pavilions
Artists have interpreted water in a number of ways but Italo Rota’s idea breaks with all conventions. His “Ciudades de agua” (Water Cities) pavilion blends all of the fundamental properties of this element in one fantastic building.
And to make sure the designer’s imaginative idea is turned into reality, NUSSLI, with its experience from numerous world exhibitions, took on the task of building the pavilion.
The circular “Ciudades de agua” pavilion, with its open, four-storey structure and a diameter of 24 metres, was a great hit with visitors.
The Mountain – Switzerland at EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan
The theme of the Swiss pavilion at the World Fair in Japan was “The Mountain” – a chain of mountains which visitors could walk over and through and which had more than one hundred items on display inside.
NUSSLI was commissioned to design and build this artificial mountain, ship it to Japan, install it there and – once the EXPO was over – to dismantle it. The wooden structure specially developed for the project, consisting of 236 CNC-milled triangular elements, gave the mountain its deceptively real form.
“The Dual System” pavilion, EXPO 2000 Hanover
In the German-speaking world, the term “dual system” is also the name of a company that has made a name for itself with environmentally friendly packaging ideas.
The “Cyclebowl”, 26 metres in diameter and 23 metres high – was an extremely complex structure. It was supported by a 250 tonne steel frame, which was covered in transparent film to aid the flow of air inside.
