Dear friends and partners of balancity,
Unbelievably, a whole two months have already passed since the 2010 World Exhibition in Shanghai opened its doors. All the planning and preparations have paid off, with well in excess of half a million guests having visited the German Pavilion, balancity, in May alone. And the feedback – from the young and the old, business delegations, school pupils, architects, journalists, politicians and film stars from around the globe – has been positively enthusiastic, as can be seen in our guestbook. We’ve printed some of their comments in our “News & events” section on page 3. The highlight so far was the German National Day on 19 May 2010. Footage of this EXPO day in honour of Germany can be seen in our newsletter film on our website at www.expo2010-germany.com.
People continue to flock to the German Pavilion. Visitors queue for up to three hours to be taken on a journey of discovery through the City in Balance. We accompanied our very first visitors on 1 May 2010 and asked them what they thought of the German Pavilion. You can read the LUO family’s answers on page 4.
At this huge festival of cultures, this global coming-together, time just flies by. And that’s no surprise when you see our full diary of events, with exhibitions and performances along the queuing area plus “state spotlights” to lend a little variety. If you’re thinking of coming to the EXPO and the German Pavilion, you can find out what cultural events will be on in the “Culture in the German Pavilion” section on page 4 of this newsletter. We look forward to welcoming you!
